At the age of 6-8 weeks, K.C. came to live with us in
December 1999. As he was not the first cockatiel to move in with us, he had to
submit to P.D.’s seniority and share everything with her.We regret that K.C.
would not become as tame as P.D. Even up to this day, K.C. will react very
jumpy whenever we reach into the cageSoon after his arrival K.C. circled the
living room, together with P.D.

|
On his rounds, K.C. discovered our ceiling fan, with which
he has had several collisions. Luckily, the fan was always turned off…K.C. too
left behind him a trail of surprises in the form of little droppings, a
completely ruined houseplant. And, oh yes, his favourite hobby is to gnaw at our
furniture. After a few weeks P.D. and K.C. became inseparable. They would fly
all over the house together. K.C. being the stronger bird, he would speed up
while screeching loudly. As if to say: look at me going! K.C. has also bonded
with the birds that come to feed in our backyard. |

|
Whenever the magpies come to eat breadcrumbs or something, K.C. goes mad, wings spread all the way out, his
screeching on tilt and then flying in circles at top speed. If that doesn’t
result in the birds leaving our backyard, the only thing left to do is to land
on the back of our couch and to strike up a conversation with them.
